I know a number that is really hot. It's only for people in a hot, hot spot. If you see a fire, If you see a crime, The number is the same every single time. This very special number is never for fun. This very special number is 911.
( Great for young Elementary school students to teach them when to dial 911 and of course, the number itself.)
Five little firefighters Sleeping in a row. RING goes the bell! Down the pole they go. They jump on the engine, And put out the fire. Now they're back at home - My, but they're tired!
I TAKE A BREATH AS I SIT DOWN, GOD GIVE ME STRENGTH TO MAKE THIS ROUND SO MANY LIVES, I HOLD IN HAND, SO MANY PEOPLE WITH DEMANDS.
MY FIRST CALL, A CHILD IS SCREAMING, DADDY'S BEATING MOM AND SHE'S NOT BREATHING. IT'S HARD TO DEAL WITH AND STAY CALM, THE CHILD YELLS, "DAD'S GOT A GUN!"
I HAVE TO TAKE CONTROL AND SAY, PLEASE SLOW DOWN THEY'RE ON THEIR WAY AS I DISPATCH TO MY DEPUTIES, "10-47, THERE ARE WEAPONS"
TEN THOUSAND THINGS RUSH THROUGH MY HEAD, GOD I PRAY SHE'S NOT DEAD. STAY ON THE PHONE AND TALK TO ME, AS I RISE TO MY FEET.
THE COPS ARE HERE THE CHILD IS SAYING, STAY ON THE LINE AS I START PRAYING. "BE ADVISED HE HAS A GUN, AND HE ALSO HAS HIS SON."
NOW I HAVE AN OPEN LINE, JUST A DISPATCHER IN THE BLIND "DISPATCH," I HEARD HIM SAY, "HIS NAME IS TEDDY AND HE'S OKAY."
THEY CLEAR THE SCENE FROM THE CALL, NOT ONE DEPUTY HAD TO FALL. I TAKE A BREATH AS I SIT DOWN, THANK YOU GOD, WE MADE THAT ROUND.
I'M JUST A DISPATCHER, CAN'T YOU SEE JUST A LIFELINE BETWEEN YOU AND ME.

Four busy firefighters could not retire Because they might have to put out a fire. The first one rang a big brass bell. The second one said, 'It's the Grand Hotel!' The third one said, 'Down the pole we'll slide.' The fourth one said, 'Get ready to ride.' The siren said, 'Get out of the way!' 'We have to put out a fire today!' The red fire truck sped on to the fire, As the big yellow flames grew higher and higher. Swish went the water from the fire-hose spout And in no time at all the fire was out. Went back to bed again.
Ten Red apples growing on a tree, (hold hands up high) Five for you and five for me. (Shake one hand, then the other.) Help me shake the tree just so, (shake whole body.) Smoke Chant
ReplyDeleteIf you don’t want to choke
Crawl under the smoke.
Get down on the floor
And head for the door.
(act out with a blanket or towel as the smoke, crawl under the blanket)
Fire Drill
ReplyDeleteDid you ever have a fire drill?
We had one today.
Our teacher told us what to do
So we would be OK.
There really was no fire at all.
It only was a drill.
We walked out to the schoolyard.
And stood there very still.
We could not talk or run or play
Until the drill was through.
Now, if there really is a fire,
We know just what to do.
The Apple Tree
ReplyDeleteWay up high in the apple tree,
Four little apples hung over me.
I shook the tree as hard as I could.
Down came the apples and mmmmm!
Were they good!
Way up high in the apple tree,
Three little apples hung over me.
I shook the tree as hard as I could.
Down came the apples and mmmmm!
Were they good!
Way up high in the apple tree,
Two little apples hung over me.
I shook the tree as hard as I could.
Down came the apples and mmmmm!

Way up high in the apple tree,
One little apple hung over me.
I shook the tree as hard as I could.
Down came the apple and mmmmm!
Was it good!

"The golden-rod is yellow;
ReplyDeleteThe corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.
The gentian's bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun.
The sedges flaunt their harvest,
In every meadow nook;
And asters by the brook-side
Make asters in the brook,
From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes' sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather,
And autumn's best of cheer.
But none of all this beauty
Which floods the earth and air
Is unto me the secret
Which makes September fair.
T'is a thing which I remember;
To name it thrills me yet:
One day of one September
I never can forget."
- Helen Hunt Jackson, September
Fire Safety Song
ReplyDelete(from the Nuttin' But Kids Website)
Sing with a dog puppet, to the tune of
Popeye the Sailor Man
I'm Fire Safety Sam. (ruff, ruff)
I'm Fire Safety Sam. (ruff, ruff)
Please test smoke detectors
'Cause they're home protectors.
I'm Fire Safety Sam. (ruff, ruff)
Substitute lines 3 and 4 with the following words for new verses...
It's important to say ...
With matches, don't play.
If there's smoke you should know,
you'd better crawl low.
Have a fire escape plan.
Every family can.
If there's a fire, get out.
Use your escape route.
Go to a neighbor's when alone,
Then call 9-1-1 on the phone.
Clothes on fire? Here's your goal:
First stop, then drop, and roll!

ReplyDeleteFireman’s Creed
When I'm called to duty God
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age
Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife
