St. Patrick's Day St. Patrick's Day is here, you see. We'll pick some shamrocks, one, two, three. We'll count the leaves and look them over, And maybe find a four-leafed clover. I'll sew green buttons on my vest, Green for St. Patrick is the best. I'll wear a green hat, very high, And dance a jig--at least I'll try!
You're walking alone on a gray, rainy day When an orange kitten prances with lust You think a while and then come to the conclusion He was sprinkled by Tinker Bell's Pixie Dust
A laugh in dead silence, a storm in the desert Little rabbits and deer sweep and dust The house is clean and happy again While we never notice Tinker Bell's Pixie Dust
You can try as hard as you want But magic is a hard thing to rust Finally you give up and think Must be the work of Tink's Pixie Dust
I caught a lively leprechaun With stubble on his face. He promised loads of buried gold And led me to the place. But when I let him loose to dig, He leaped and led a chase. That lively laughing leprechaun Had left without a trace!
The Leprechauns are Marching The Leprechauns are marching,They're marching down the hall,They're marching on the ceiling,They're marching on the wall. They're marching two by two,And now it's four by four,You say you still can't see them?Move back! Here come some more! The leprechauns are marching,I think it's three by three.Just close your eyes and try nowTo visualize with me.Their merry little feetWill never miss a beat. They're very tricky fellows.Look out! They're under the sheet!
Five little leprechauns scurrying by my door, One jumped away, then there were four. Four little leprechauns climbing in my tree, One hid in the green leaves, then there were three. Three little leprechauns, just a busy few, One went for a pot of gold, then there were two. Two little leprechauns, having lots of fun, One hopped over the rainbow, then there was one. One little leprechaun, with all his work done. He slipped off for a nap, then there were none.

The Dear Little Shamrock by Andrew Cherry There's a dear little plant that grows in Ireland. 'Twas Saint Patrick himself sure that set it. And the sun on his labor with pleasure did smile. And a tear from his eyes oft-times wet it. It grows thro' the bog, thro' the brake, and the mireland, And it's called the dear little Shamrock of Ireland. That dear little plant still grows in our land, Fresh and fair as the daughters of Erin, Whose smiles can bewitch, and whose eyes can command, In each climate they ever appear in: For they shine thro' the bog, thro' the brake, and the mireland, Just like their own dear little Shamrock of Ireland. That dear little plant that springs from our soil, When its three little leaves are extended, Denotes from the stalk we together should toil, And ourselves by ourselves be befriended. And still thro' the bog, thro' the brake, and the mireland, From one root should branch, like the Shamrock of Ireland.

Come a little closer now,
Don’t be afraid of me.

I’d really like to see you

Came out St. Patrick's Day
To look for the gold
That was hidden far away.
Over the rainbow
Was where he was told,
So, with the wink of his green eye,
He ran to get the gold.

Don't Pinch
ReplyDeleteby Bruce Lansky
When I got on the school bus,
I was in for a surprise.
My friends all stared and pointed.
There was mischief in their eyes.
A kid who sat in front of me
reached out and pinched my knee.
My friends all started laughing,
but the joke was lost on me.
And then I got my second pinch.
I felt it on my ear.
And then I felt a third and fourth.
You guessed it--on my rear.
I asked, "Why are you pinching me?
I think it's very mean!"
They said, "Today's St. Patrick's Day
and you're not wearing green."

The Leprechaun Secret
ReplyDeleteI met a little Leprechaun
just the other day
He had a small secret,
something he wanted to say
He pulled me close
face to face
and whispered in my ear
"Please listen close
for you should know
the simple truth my dear
"Don't chase the pot of gold
at the rainbow's end
For all the wealth you need
You'll find in family and friends"

I'll Wear a Shamrock
ReplyDeleteSt. Patrick's Day is with us,
The day when all that's seen
To right and left and everywhere
Is green, green, green!
And Irish tunes they whistle
And Irish songs they sing,
To-day each Irish lad walks out
As proud as any king.
I'll wear a four-leaf shamrock
In my coat, the glad day through,
For my father and mother are Irish
And I am Irish too!

Leprechaun stew, Leprechaun stew,
(rub tummy like you're thinking about something yummy)
If I don't get some,
(clap hands to both sides of your face in an 'Oh No!' action)
I don't know what I'll do.
(keep hands by the sides of your face and shake your head in a No motion)
Give away my pot of gold
(Hold out your right hand like you're giving something away)
Give away my shoe.
(Keep right hand out and hold out your left hand like you're giving a second thing away)
But don't give away my Leprechaun Stew.
