  1. Lucky Leprechaun tune Jingle Bells

    Leprechaun, Leprechaun,
    Oh, where can you be?
    Come a little closer now,
    Don’t be afraid of me.

    Leprechaun, Leprechaun,
    You bring luck my way.
I’d really like to see you
    On this St. Patrick’s Day!

  2. Eensy Weensy Leprechaun:

    An eensy, weensy leprechaun

    Came out St. Patrick's Day

    To look for the gold

    That was hidden far away.

    Over the rainbow

    Was where he was told,

So, with the wink of his green eye,

He ran to get the gold.

(great for use with other St. Patrick Day activities in a Kindergarten class, such as searching for gold)

  3. Don't Pinch
    by Bruce Lansky

When I got on the school bus,
I was in for a surprise.
My friends all stared and pointed.
There was mischief in their eyes.

A kid who sat in front of me
reached out and pinched my knee.
    My friends all started laughing,
but the joke was lost on me.

And then I got my second pinch.
I felt it on my ear.
And then I felt a third and fourth.
    You guessed it--on my rear.

I asked, "Why are you pinching me?
    I think it's very mean!"
They said, "Today's St. Patrick's Day
    and you're not wearing green."

  4. Five Little Shamrocks

    One green shamrock, in the morning dew;
    Another one sprouted;
    And then there were two.
Two green shamrocks, growing 'neath the tree,
    Another one sprouted;
    And then there were three.
Three green shamrocks, by the cottage door,
    Another one sprouted;
    And then there were four.
    Four green shamrocks, near a beehive;
    Another one sprouted;
    And then there were five.
Five little shamrocks, bright and emerald

Think of all the luck these shamrocks will bring

  5. St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day is here, you see.
We'll pick some shamrocks, one, two, three.
We'll count the leaves and look them over,
And maybe find a four-leafed clover.
I'll sew green buttons on my vest,
Green for St. Patrick is the best.
I'll wear a green hat, very high,
    And dance a jig--at least I'll try!

  6. Tinker Bell's Pixie Dust

You're walking alone on a gray, rainy day
When an orange kitten prances with lust
You think a while and then come to the conclusion
He was sprinkled by Tinker Bell's Pixie Dust

A laugh in dead silence, a storm in the desert
Little rabbits and deer sweep and dust
The house is clean and happy again
While we never notice Tinker Bell's Pixie Dust

You can try as hard as you want
But magic is a hard thing to rust
Finally you give up and think
Must be the work of Tink's Pixie Dust

  7. The Lively Leprechaun

    I caught a lively leprechaun
    With stubble on his face.
He promised loads of buried gold
And led me to the place.
But when I let him loose to dig,
He leaped and led a chase.
    That lively laughing leprechaun
    Had left without a trace!

  8. The Leprechaun Secret

    I met a little Leprechaun
    just the other day
    He had a small secret,
    something he wanted to say

    He pulled me close
    face to face
    and whispered in my ear
    "Please listen close
    for you should know
    the simple truth my dear

"Don't chase the pot of gold
    at the rainbow's end
For all the wealth you need
You'll find in family and friends"

Two little leprechauns, having lots of fun,

  12. The Wearin' O' the Green

Today is the day fer the wearin' o' the green.
Today is the day when the little people are seen.
Today is St. Patrick's Day, so if ye'r Irish me lad,
Join the celebratin' fer the grandest time ta' be had.

Ya' put yer hand up in the air, the other hand on your hip.
Ya' tap yer toe, ya' tap yer heel, ya' bounce yer knee a wee bit.
Ya' prance 'n dance around the room, n' circle one two three.
The saints be praised, I must admit, ya' all look Irish ta' me.

  13. St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick would use they say
A three-leaf shamrock in his day
To explain in a simple way
    About the Blessed Trinity
The Father, Son and Holy Ghost
    Though they do exist separately
They all are of one entity
And so my friends it’s plain to see
Jesus loves both you and me
St. Patrick was a great man you see
    He taught about Christianity
So today I hope for you will be
A day that sets your spirit free

  14. The Dear Little Shamrock
    by Andrew Cherry
There's a dear little plant that grows in Ireland.
'Twas Saint Patrick himself sure that set it.
And the sun on his labor with pleasure did smile.
And a tear from his eyes oft-times wet it.
It grows thro' the bog, thro' the brake, and the mireland,
And it's called the dear little Shamrock of Ireland.
That dear little plant still grows in our land,
Fresh and fair as the daughters of Erin,
Whose smiles can bewitch, and whose eyes can command,
In each climate they ever appear in:
For they shine thro' the bog, thro' the brake, and the mireland,
Just like their own dear little Shamrock of Ireland.
That dear little plant that springs from our soil,
When its three little leaves are extended,
Denotes from the stalk we together should toil,
And ourselves by ourselves be befriended.
And still thro' the bog, thro' the brake, and the mireland,
From one root should branch, like the Shamrock of Ireland.

  15. I'll Wear a Shamrock

St. Patrick's Day is with us,
The day when all that's seen
To right and left and everywhere
    Is green, green, green!

    And Irish tunes they whistle
    And Irish songs they sing,
To-day each Irish lad walks out
    As proud as any king.

    I'll wear a four-leaf shamrock
In my coat, the glad day through,
For my father and mother are Irish
    And I am Irish too!

    Go On a Leprechaun Hunt
Use the tune of a Bear Hunt
Ask the children to listen closely and follow the directions.
Have them to clap the rhythm or slap their knees as you tell the story.
Going on a leprechaun hunt. I'm not afraid.
Let's go! Oh. look! I see a grassy field.
Can't go around it. Can't go under it. Can't go over it. Let's go through it.
Let's go! Swish, swish, swish, swish.
Oh, look! I see a giant tree.
Can't go over it. Can't go under it. Can't go through it. Let's climb it.
    Let's go! Climb, climb, climb.
Oh, look! I see a river.
Can't go over it. Can't go around it. Can't go under it. Let's Swim it.
    Let's go. Swim, swim, swim.
Oh, look! I see a dark cave.
Can't go around it. Can't go under it. Can't go over it. Let's tiptoe into it.
    Let's go. Tippy, tippy, toe.
It's really dark in here. Better turn on my flashlight. (turn lights off and use a flashlight)
    Oh, no. I see something!
    It's mean! It's green! It's a leprechaun! Let's go!
Run! Run! Swim! Swim! Climb! Climb! Swish! Swish!
    Whew...safe at home again.

  17. .St.Patrick's Day
    By: Rodger Allan Diederich
It is the day for the wearing of the green,
Every Irishman knows what that does mean.
The day the Leprechauns come out to play,
At least that is what the folklores say.
Crowds will gather and friends will meet,
As the parade marches down the street.
When the bands go marching by,
All Irish voices will be raised on high.
The taverns will be serving kegs of green beer.
Filling us full of good cheer.
We wish all a very Happy St.Paddy's Day,
May only joy and happiness come your way.

  18. Leprechaun Stew

    Leprechaun stew, Leprechaun stew,
    If I don't get some,
    I don't know what I'll do.

Give away my pot of gold
    Give away my shoe.
But don't give away my Leprechaun Stew.

    Actions:
    Leprechaun stew, Leprechaun stew,
(rub tummy like you're thinking about something yummy)

    If I don't get some,
(clap hands to both sides of your face in an 'Oh No!' action)

    I don't know what I'll do.
(keep hands by the sides of your face and shake your head in a No motion)

Give away my pot of gold
(Hold out your right hand like you're giving something away)

    Give away my shoe.
(Keep right hand out and hold out your left hand like you're giving a second thing away)

But don't give away my Leprechaun Stew.
(last line should be said a bit louder -- hands on hips and shake head in a No motion)
